Article: The foundation for starting your career

As a Systel employee, you will play an active role in shaping the digitalisation of the DB Group. There's never been a more exciting time to join us.

We can offer you a secure job that also gives you the flexibility you need in the modern working atmosphere of a startup. This could be the perfect springboard for your career. We can offer you just what you're looking for: you'll be part of the DB family and enjoy all the benefits that a major corporation provides, but at DB Systel, you can expect a modern working environment with flat hierarchies and agile, self-organising ways of doing things. At Skydeck, our innovation lab with a startup vibe, we're always working on new ideas that help drive digitalisation forward at Deutsche Bahn. Sound exciting? Then take your first steps on a promising career by signing up for a direct entry programme with us – one of the leading names in ICT solutions and Deutsche Bahn's partner for digital solutions.

A variety of opportunities to kickstart your IT career

DB Systel offers two entry-level programmes for university graduates.

Our Sprintstarter programme, which brings graduates up to speed with everyday life in the IT sector in record time, kicks off on 1 April and 1 October each year and you can start our trainee programme with a special focus on ICT at any time of the year. Besides these graduate programmes, we also offer direct entry opportunities that let you put what you have learned into practice and get started straight away.

Sprintstarter programme

In the three-month programme, exciting theory and practical modules alternate in various strategic areas. Code your own career and choose where you want to specialise: cloud/AWS, consulting, CRM, data engineering, DevOps, IT security, SAP or software development. We tailor the Sprintstarter programme to company requirements, so the focus may be different every time the programme is run.

Benefits include a permanent employment contract right from the start. We also provide numerous generic and specialist training courses, digital learning offers, on-the-job training and mentoring from the start. You will be a member of one of our self-organised teams and benefit from the company-wide Sprintstarter network.

Trainees

Are you a STEM graduate who is looking for the perfect basis for launching your career? Then sign up for DB Systel's trainee programme. Your year as a trainee gives you the opportunity to gain practical experience of project business as Deutsche Bahn's digital partner, and you will also learn about our structures and systems. At the beginning of the programme, we will assign you a target position and department, and your team will then work with you to create your personal trainee plan. You will then work in your future career environment throughout the entire trainee period. Depending on your preferences and field of study, a range of different areas will be available to you.

A mentor will supervise and support you every step of the way. Training courses will focus on technical as well as interdisciplinary issues, giving you an excellent grounding in your future tasks. These will include the DB Welcome seminar for new hires, and courses looking at work methodologies and personality factors. Lectures and discussions with different experts and events organised by the graduate network at Deutsche Bahn AG add the finishing touches to the programme. You can start your trainee programme at any time of the year.

Once a year, Group-wide graduate trainee programmes are offered focusing on various areas, including digital traineeship. Candidates for our trainee programme need to have obtained good or excellent grades during their STEM studies. We also expect applicants to have gained some practical experience through internship or as a working student. Additional requirements include a good command of English, communication skills and the ability to break complex issues down to their essentials.
