The new development from the DB Systel accelerator helps business travellers that work in teams throughout Germany to organise and coordinate meetings and makes booking the room easier. The tool also opens up a new source of income by exploiting empty spaces in stations.
On the basis of timetable data, Meeting Station finds the meeting Point(s) which participants can get to quickest. The organiser chooses the best place from the generated proposals, can immediately book a meeting room there and then at the station, as well as booking additional meeting services.
Furthermore, the organiser can have the connection displayed and purchase a train ticket via bahn.de. The shorter distances involved often make it possible to travel there and back in a single day, so meeting participants do not need hotel accommodation in the best-case scenario. Cutting costs and saving time in the process. Organising a meeting and outward journey is simple, taking just a few clicks.
Development of new features in the Pipeline
The six-strong Meeting Station developer team has all the skills needed to develop a fully fledged product, with particular strengths in prototyping. The beta version went live after a few sprints; lots of customer feedback was incorporated into the development.
The next step envisages integrating complex user administration. A calendar is also planned, which can automatically organise, book and invite participants as and when required.
Meeting room venues
Meeting Station already has 15 rooms in its portfolio, including Fulda, Erfurt and Berlin. Mannheim, Darmstadt, Hamburg and other locations are set to follow by the end of the year. In future, every long-distance station should have meeting rooms, thus making the stations more attractive.
