The Deutsche Bahn fleet is running at the limits of its capacity. Increasing maintenance hours are also reducing rolling stock capacity. Maintenance capacity needs to be increased substantially for us to achieve our goal of twice as many passengers on long distance services and one billion passengers in regional transport, as well as a 70% increase in freight volume.
Stable, standardised processes with high-quality digital components guarantee optimum vehicle maintenance and high-quality rolling stock deployment at Deutsche Bahn. As a digital partner, we support the digitalisation of vehicle maintenance along the value chain with our sound rail and IT expertise. We develop in-house cross-business unit services or integrate commercially available solutions into Deutsche Bahn's existing systems.
New technologies and IT trends, including the internet of things, big data and artificial intelligence, provide new approaches and opportunities. Even now we are exploring new solutions. Our Venture vsion.AI uses camera diagnostics to identify potential disruptions early on and automatically generates repair orders.
Our specialists are committed to digital maintenance in the DB Group
Our expert Bastian Ebinger is committed to digitalising vehicle maintenance and aims to drive forward digital maintenance:
"After seven years working in a global IT consultancy, I joined Deutsche Bahn as a manager in 2013. As Head of Consulting & Sales DB Group & DB Services at DB Systel, over the past few years I have garnered in-depth expertise in maintaining rolling stock across all business units (Traffic and Transport Board Division, Holding, Infrastructure and Logistics). With my long-standing expertise I accompany the DB Group in designing the digitalisation of vehicle maintenance, so together we can ensure the high-quality deployment of rolling stock in DB".
As Value Network Facilitator, Daniela Martin drives forward with passion the development of a robust network for vehicle maintenance:
"Having grown up as the "daughter of a railway worker" I'm convinced about rail as a product. With degrees in Communications Science and experience in crisis management my journey in the maintenance landscape at DB started with the PUMA lighthouse project. For me, the maintenance of rolling stock is critical when it comes to punctuality and trains that customers like travelling on. Supporting DB customers with a strong network and promoting sustainable ideas is what motivates me here. By setting up a cross-business unit network for vehicle maintenance, within and especially outside Deutsche Bahn too, I want to connect developers, intrapreneurs and customers optimally to promote future-proof digitalisation solutions for Strong Rail in Germany. So we can work together as a network to share, integrate and promote challenges, ideas and solutions. And these will form the foundation for scalable products and services that define a new standard in quality and mobility".
