Deutsche Bahn

Initial work experience and interesting tasks.

Gain valuable initial experience during your studies. We offer three different options with practical insights: an internship, experience as a working student, or experience as part of your thesis.

Covering both theory and practice, you'll gain an excellent insight into the life cycles of the software projects that we develop and support for Deutsche Bahn, from strategic planning and professional analysis and development to continuous optimisation.

Internship

During your internship, lasting at least three months, you will be directly involved in one of our ICT projects. Depending on the focus of your studies, you will work in the fields of software development, software architecture, test management, IT consulting or IT sales.

Advantages during your internship:

  • The DB StudentsClub supports you during your  programme, you can start networking across departments during your internship. To help you do this, we organise events such as lunchtime meetings or get-togethers for interns.

  • You can attend presentations about career opportunities at Deutsche Bahn and take part in excursions or Workshops.

  • In addition to market-oriented salaries, we may offer discounts on tickets for your journey to work, depending on your contract. Depending on the duration of your internship, you may also be entitled to holidays – regardless of whether you are completing a voluntary or mandatory internship. Naturally, you will also have a feedback meeting and receive a letter of reference upon completion of your internship.
Working students

Initial work experience and interesting tasks.

As a working student, you can gain valuable initial experience even during your studies by being actively involved in day-to-day operations for up to 20 hours a week.

You will help our teams to implement current ICT projects while you follow your STEM study courses. This will allow you to apply and build upon your own relevant technical expertise – in a practical manner.

An expert contact person will oversee your work and feedback meetings will be held at regular intervals.

Writing your thesis

A boost for the final stage of your studies

When it comes to the crowning glory of your STEM studies, DB Systel can help you in two ways: by supporting you with your thesis and/or providing you with appropriate topics.

Have you already found a suitable topic for your Bachelor's, Master's or diploma dissertation? Feel free to contact us. Where possible, we support students with their theses as an industry partner.

You should already have good or excellent grades in your studies and have gained practical experience in a specialist area. Choosing a topic will be much easier if you have completed an internship with us or a similar company.

If you are interested in finding out more about how we can help you, please send us an email at ausbildung-dbsystel@deutschebahn.com, with your application documents in full and a proposal that describes in detail the content of your planned thesis. Please also state your preferred working location and your thesis completion period. We will then aim to find the most suitable specialist department to support you.

Interested? Simply send us your application documents in full, stating your preferred period, area of study and location, via our careers portal  (German only).
