IT internships for school pupils: get a taste of the real world

Article: Start your dream career with a school student's internship at DB Systel

Are you interested in a degree or vocational training in IT? Would you like to do an internship to find out if a career in the IT sector is for you? Then why not take advantage of the opportunity to gain some practical experience with DB Systel, a leading ICT solutions provider and the digital partner of Deutsche Bahn?

Our interns gain a comprehensive insight into the diversity of everyday working life at DB Systel, and they get to learn about the vocational training programmes and cooperative education programmes that we offer. One of DB Systel's implementation teams provides on-the-job mentoring for interns during their time with us. We offer internships lasting from one to several weeks for school students who want to see what career path is right for them. These internships take place at our three bases in Frankfurt, Berlin and Erfurt.

"A taster internship gave me the opportunity to learn more about DB Systel. I especially enjoyed the agile working methods and being part of a team. I was also very impressed by the entry options for school leavers, which is why I want to apply for one of DB Systel's cooperative education programmes after I graduate."

We also offer students at technical schools positions for a year-long internship that enables them to progress to higher education at a university of applied science. Five such places are available every year. Each internship starts on 1 August. All our openings for interns in our bases at Frankfurt, Berlin and Erfurt are marked "Schülerpraktikum IT" (IT internships for school students) on DB's careers page (german only), and you can send us your application straight from the website. When applying, please indicate your preferred location for the internship.

Hessen Technikum

DB Systel is a partner company of Hessen Technikum, and we offer school (or vocational school) leavers with an interest in technology a fantastic opportunity to gather practical experience in the STEM fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Every year, four positions at our main base in Frankfurt are available to techie-minded interns. The programme takes a two-pronged approach, combining a taster course at a partner university of applied science with internships at two partner companies, each lasting for three months. If you are interested, please apply directly via the Hessen Technikum website.

Why not get to know DB Systel and Deutsche Bahn at a trade fair or event? See DB's event page for dates.
